“The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18
Walking through the hardship of abuse is terrifying. You feel so alone in your struggles and it can feel shameful to share your pain. We’d love to help you navigate the journey toward safety.
Together we can find hope and healing
Welcome to the Abigail Network
At the Abigail Network, we believe in the transformative power of love, justice, and compassion. Rooted in the truth of Scripture, we are here to walk alongside women who are navigating the pain of abusive relationships, offering support, hope, and restoration (see note). We are committed to being a beacon of safety and encouragement, providing care that reflects God’s heart for the broken-hearted and oppressed.
“Marriage and family are important to God, but just as important are the individuals within the marriage. God does not value men more than women, or the institution of marriage more than the people in it.”
Leslie Vernick, The Emotionally Destructive Marriage, page 2
We aim to equip and support women in abusive or harmful marriages to find safety, healing, and hope. Guided by biblical principles, we seek to offer practical assistance, compassionate support, and spiritual resources to help women rebuild their lives with dignity and confidence. Through education, advocacy, and partnership, we aim to help churches and communities to stand as safe havens for those in need.
Our purpose
Our approach
Biblical Foundations Every aspect of our work is grounded in Scripture, reflecting God’s love, justice, and mercy. We are committed to addressing harmful misinterpretations of the Bible and affirming each woman’s worth as a child of God.
Collaborative Care We aim to partner with local churches, organisations, and professionals to ensure that women can access comprehensive support that meets her unique needs.
Education and Awareness We aim to help churches and communities recognise and respond to domestic abuse with care. We promote a culture of justice, mercy, and safety within Christian settings.
Note: we understand that there are also husbands who experience abuse from their wives. It is not our intention to discredit their experience. We refer on this site to the husbands as the perpetrators and the wives as the victims as this is the way abuse is most commonly experienced.
